Newark was incorporated as a city in 1955, partly to maintain local control and avoid becoming primarily an industrial district. At that time, the area was experiencing the post-World War II residential boom that swept the Bay Area. The city annexed land that would become home to shopping centers and neighborhoods, and grew as families moved to the region seeking housing and employment.

The tri-city area of Fremont, Newark, and Union City has continued to develop over decades, from early farming communities through post-war suburban growth and into the modern era. Like much of the Bay Area, Newark has attracted a diverse population with families from many backgrounds. The median household income reflects the area's relative prosperity compared to many California regions.

As a growing community, Newark represents the kind of place where families build lives and plan futures. Home ownership, children's education, and financial security are realistic goals for many households. Term life insurance is a practical tool for protecting those plans—ensuring that a mortgage is covered, children's education is funded, or a spouse can maintain the household if something happens to the primary earner.
